About The Prince of Wales…
The Prince of Wales has a long and colourful past – it started out as the village bakery before turning into a pub back in the 1880s. Walworth Brewery took it over in 1989, and since then it’s been through a few changes. Now it’s run by Sage & Mathew, who’ve given the pub a full refresh inside and out, keeping the traditional charm while adding a modern touch.
Sage & Mathew…
Between them, Mathew and Sage have over 25 years of experience in the hospitality world—and it shows. They’ve done a bit of everything, and their shared love of great food and making people feel at home is at the heart of what they do.
After working across a variety of roles in the industry, they brought their knowledge, passion, and warm energy to The Prince of Wales. When the pub closed for 8 months, they saw an opportunity to bring it back better than ever—and in June 2023, they started on their journey to do just that.
